KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — As Phil Mickelson celebrated making history, becoming the oldest golfer to ever win a major, it was also a very meaningful PGA Championship for a PGA club professional from Vero Beach.
John’s Island Club in Vero Beach is beaming with pride as their club pro Ben Cook pulled off the low club professional score. Cook finished with an impressive +4 at the major tournament following a 3 under 69 on Saturday. It’s Cook’s 3rd straight appearance at the PGA Championship, but the first time he’s made the cut.
The 27-year-old Cook was one of three PGA professionals from John’s Island to qualify for the PGA Championship. Brett Walker and Tyler Collet missed the cut.
