The sharp edges, while aesthetically pleasing, can feel a bit uncomfortable during prolonged use. However, the build quality is exceptional, with stainless steel construction and Ceramic Shield protection for the screen. The absence of a SIM tray in the U.S. model, replaced by eSIM functionality, marks a significant shift and simplifies the device’s design even further.
Holding the phone, it feels perfectly balanced, easily manageable with one hand despite its 206-gram weight. The Deep Purple color option is a standout, offering a subtle yet stunning alternative to the more traditional color choices. It’s a phone that exudes class and sophistication without being overly flashy.
The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display is a highlight, boasting a 2556 x 1179 resolution and an impressive 460ppi pixel density. The screen’s brightness, capable of reaching 2000 nits outdoors, is a boon, especially under direct sunlight. But the real game-changer is the always-on display feature. Borrowing from the Apple Watch, this feature keeps essential information visible without fully waking the phone, a convenient addition that enhances the overall user experience.

The Dynamic Island, a new design element replacing the traditional notch, is a work in progress but shows great potential. While its full potential is yet to be unlocked, it’s a clever and aesthetically pleasing innovation.
iOS 16 brings additional refinements, with the lock screen customization being a prominent feature. While the changes to the lock screen and notification system might not appeal to everyone, they do offer a degree of personalization that many users will appreciate. The A16 Bionic chip ensures that everything runs smoothly, although the performance jump from its predecessor isn’t particularly dramatic.
The camera system on the iPhone 14 Pro is a modest but noticeable improvement over the iPhone 13 Pro.
